Japan Academy Prize (film)

The Japanese Academy Award (JAA, Japanese日本 アカデミー 賞, nippon academii shō ) is the most important film award of the Japanese film industry. Since 1978, outstanding achievement in film are honored each year in Tokyo. He's so much younger than about the Kinema Jumpo price. In contrast to many other award ceremonies, the Japanese Academy Awards will take place at any fixed date, only the period from February to April is fixed.

The categories are similar to those of the U.S. Academy Awards. At the ceremony, the films from the previous year will be awarded.

Some critics see the Japanase Academy Awards as a popularity contest and not as an award for outstanding films. For example, the internationally acclaimed and award winning film Nobody Knows (2004) received only one nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category.
