Japan Cup (cycling)

The Japan Cup (Japaneseジャパン カップ サイクル ロード レースofficially " Japan Cup Cycle Road Race" ) is a Japanese bicycle race.

The one-day race in 1992, held for the first time and takes a year since the end of October. In 1996 the race was unique to the cycling World Cup. With the introduction of the UCI Asia Tour in 2005, the race is one of this series and was initially classified in category 1.1. Since the discharge in October 2008, which already belonged to the Asia Tour 2009, it was upgraded into the 1.HC category. Record winner of the fledgling race are the two Italians Claudio Chiappucci and Sergio Barbero, who were already three times successfully. So far the only Japanese Yoshiyuki Abe in 1997 won the one-day race for themselves.
