Dan Martin (cyclist)

Daniel Martin ( born August 20, 1986 in Birmingham, United Kingdom) is an Irish racing cyclist.

Daniel Martin, whose mother, the sister of former world champion and Tour de France winner Stephen Roche and is the father of former British cyclist Neil Martin, was born in the UK and thus has, in addition to Irish and British citizenship. He decided, however, already during his time with the juniors for starting under the Irish license after he had become British champion 2004, nor in the road race in the juniors.

Career

U23

During his time in the age group under 23, which he played in the service of well-known and successful French team VC La Pomme Marseille, could Daniel Martin, who was considered early on as a great talent for overcoming climbs, draw attention to themselves with some very good results He won a stage in the 2006 stage race Giro della Valle d' Aosta and was second in the overall standings. In 2009, he was previously the youth classification of Mediterranean Tour to decide for themselves, a stage race, which he was able to finish third in the overall standings.

In 2013 he won the spring classic Liege -Bastogne- Liege and the 9th stage of the Tour de France from Saint- Girons to Bagneres -de- Bigorre.
