Germain Derycke

Germain Derycke ( born November 2, 1929 in Bellegem; † January 3, 1978 in Kortrijk ) was a Belgian racing cyclist.

Germain Derycke was a professional racing driver from 1950 to 1961 and a successful specialist in classics. In almost every year he was able to win at least one; 1953 Paris -Roubaix, Flèche Wallonne 1954 - the original winner Ferdy Kübler was reset due to disability - and cross through Flanders. In 1955 he won at Milan - Sanremo, 1957 at Liège- Bastogne- Liège, and in 1958 the Tour of Flanders. In 1953 he also won the Tour of Algeria.

Three times Derycke started in the Tour de France; In 1951, he chose the 23 stage itself. Twice he was also at UCI Road World Championships on the podium in 1953, he finished second behind the Italian Fausto Coppi and 1955, third behind his compatriot Stan ocher and the Luxembourg Jean -Pierre Schmitz.
