Edwig Van Hooydonck

Edwig Van Hooydonck (born 4 August 1966 Ekeren ) is a former Belgian cyclist.

Edwig Van Hooydonck from 1986 to 1996 as a pro active and could twice, in 1989 and 1991, winning the Tour of Flanders, one of the five monuments of cycling. In the Brabant Arrow Van Hooydonck with four victories - 1987, 1991, 1993 and 1995 - record winner. At the Tour de Romandie, the Étoile de Bessèges, Andalusia Tour and the Tour de Luxembourg, he was able to win stages. In 1989 he also won the race in Kuurne -Brussels- Kuurne. Throughout his career he drove for the team of Jan Raas.

1996 Van Hooydonck resigned as cyclist. In May 2007, he issued the following statement in relation to the Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen, he realized that he had no chance against steroids opponents. He himself had Doping strictly rejected. Particular criticism he practiced at his former colleague Johan Museeuw.

Today, Van Hooydonck engaged as a local politician in his home Wuustwezel.
