Pierino Favalli

Pierino Favalli ( born May 1, 1914 in Zanengo di Grumello; † 16 May 1986 as Cremona ) was an Italian cyclist.

1936 started Pierino Favalli at the Olympic Games in Berlin: In individual road race he finished in eleventh place in the team competition with the Italian team in fourth. The 100 - kilometer race team first began with a mass start, and the times of the best three riders in each team were added together for scoring. In the same year Favalli won at the Road World Championships in Bern the bronze medal in the road race in the amateurs.

From 1936 to 1946 Favalli was professional. His greatest achievement was the victory at Milan - Sanremo in 1941, 1937 and 1938, he finished second in 1932 and third parties. In 1938 he won the Giro della Romagna as well as 1938 and 1939 Milan -Turin, 1942 Giro del Veneto and the Giro di Campania. Four times he won a pair of time trial together with Gino Bartali. At the Giro d' Italia in 1940, he chose the second stage of its own.
