Coat of arms and flag
By decision of the Government of Lower Austria on 18 July 1978, the community received Japons awarded a coat of arms. His Blazon: "Divided and split up, up right in black a golden fire-breathing from the shields division growing upright Panther, top left in gold, two black erect scythes, geschacht down three times from green to red. " The church colors are green - yellow-black.

History
In the cadastral Oberthumeritz and Unterthumeritz finds from the Neolithic period have been made.
Japons was mentioned in a document in 1336 as Chinjapons ( Kirchjapons ). In the same year they were first written reference to the cadastral Zettenreith. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria. In Unterthumeritz a castle was mentioned in 1386. Around 1620 Japons was hard hit by the Thirty Years War affected.
In several quarries south of Unterthumeritz the Thumeritzer marble was won in the 19th and budding 20th century.
Policy
Mayor of the municipality is Karl Braun Steiner, head of department Beatrix Dworak. In the market there are local council after the local elections in 2010 with a total of 15 seats following distribution of seats:
Culture and sights
The parish church of the holy Laurenz Japons located in an elevated position. It is a simple baroque building with original Gothic elements. In the church there are oil paintings by Johann Jakob Zeiller. The local chapels of Oberthumeritz, Unterthumeritz, Wenjapons and Zettenreith date from the second half of the 18th century.
