Dscharamana (Arabic جرمانا, DMG Ǧaramānā, Jaramana ) is a city in the province Rif Dimaschq in the southern heartland of Syria.

Dscharamana is located about 10 km south-east of Damascus, between downtown Damascus and the international airport. In the 1981 census, the population was 64 305, the town has become a suburb of Damascus, with 2009 estimated 189 888 inhabitants.

It has a beautiful Palestinian refugee camp, which was founded in 1948. 1967 were settled from the Golan Heights displaced Palestinians here (see Palestinian refugee problem). In December 2008, 18,740 refugees were in the camp.

Since the beginning of the Iraq war in 2003, many Iraqis, especially Christian Assyrians have fled to Syria. About 70 percent of the 200,000 Iraqis in the country ( 2009) have settled in Greater Damascus, a larger number in Dscharamana, which became the Iraqi district of the capital.

Nearby vegetable is cultivated in irrigated fields. The economic prosperity of the city stems above all from its function as a trading. With the Iraqi refugees came a wealthy segment of the population.
