Jargeau

Jargeau is a commune with 4483 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Loiret in the Centre region. It belongs to the district of Orléans and is capital of the canton Jargeau. The inhabitants of the town, formerly also called Gergeau to Gergoliens or Gergoliennes call.

Description

The village is located about 20 km southeast of Orléans on the south bank of the Loire. Since its foundation in Roman times overlooks the small town back on an eventful history.
