Järna, Södertälje

Järna is a place in Sweden, in the municipality of Södertälje.

History

Järna in 1952 by the merger of Vårdinge, Överjärna and Ytterjärna an independent village. 1971, it was incorporated into the municipality of Södertälje. Since 1989 Järna again has a certain self- administration by the Kommundelskontor (such as " part of municipality administrative office ").

Economy

In Järna there are about 2900 jobs. Just as many people in employment commute to Södertälje and Stockholm. Nearly 2,000 jobs are among about 100 different anthroposophic companies and institutions. Other large employers are Cerealia Foods and Fläktwoods.

Population

20 % of the population Järnas have a non- Swedish background. In contrast to Södertälje, most immigrants from Finland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, but also come from Austria. About half of the population lives in single family homes.

Education

Almost all schools in Järna are free schools, including Waldorf schools, Montessori schools and three high schools free.

Attractions

Worth seeing is the cultural center Kulturhuset i Ytterjärna inaugurated in 1992, which was awarded in 2001 for its architecture. The architect was Erik Asmussen.
