Järnpojke

Järnpojke or Iron Boy, in German also known as " little boy looks at the moon " is a sculpture in the old town Gamla stan in Stockholm, which is only 15 inches high and is thus regarded as the " smallest public monument of Stockholm ".

The sculpture was created in 1954 by the Swedish artist Liss Eriksson, but was inaugurated at this point until the year 1967. The sculpture is located behind the Finnish church, this is offset by the Stockholm Palace.

Special

In winter, the little boy is to be found also in winter hat and scarf. The sculpture is described in very few tourist guides and is therefore considered "secret" tourist attraction.

Superstition

It is said the boy had magical powers; thus sacrificing Visitors money that is placed next to the boy. Furthermore, many visitors to stroke him on the head and hope for luck. The head shines therefore already, unlike the rest of the rather darker sculpture.

The following superstitious rituals surround the sculpture:

  • Who runs around the sculpture counter-clockwise 3 times, comes back for sure back to Stockholm.
  • Who caresses the sculpture three times over the head, can make a wish, what should go in the same year in fulfillment.
  • He who sacrifices the sculpture money is in the same year also reap wealth, women 's fertility should be strengthened here.
