Jaroslav Vejvoda

Jaroslav Vejvoda ( born July 1, 1920 in Prague, † July 28, 1996 ) was a Czechoslovak football player and football coach.

Playing career

Jaroslav Vejvoda began at the small Prague SK Břevnov. At 14, he moved to Prague SKEP. In 1942 he went to Sparta Prague, with whom he was in 1946 and 1948 champion. In 1948, he briefly played for Slavia Prague, which was at this time Dynamo Prague. Subsequently, he was active in Vítkovické Zelezarny before he finished his career in 1953.

On October 14, 1951, he ran for the first and last time in the dress of the Czechoslovak national team. In the match against Hungary in Ostrava he scored a goal, but his team lost 1-2.

Coaching career

In 1954 he was in coach at BANIK Vitkovice. From 1958 to 1960 he oversaw Banik Ostrava. He made a name for himself as manager of Dukla Prague, whose team he coached a total of three times, the first time by 1960 until 1966. Dukla was during this period four times in a row Czechoslovak champion. Between 1966 and 1969 he was coach of Legia Warsaw, with whom he won the 1969 Polish Championship. Then Vejvoda worked up again in 1973 in Dukla. This year, he went back to Legia Warsaw and remained there until 1975. Then he took a third time the team of Dukla Prague and could again lead 1977 and 1979 to win the title.

At the end of the season 1979/80 he retired from coaching profession.
