Jars of Clay

Jars of Clay is a four-member Christian rock band from the United States, whose musicians who met in college and formed a group. In America they are also called the " Fab Four" (in reference to the Beatles ) the Christian pop music.

Band History

Stylistically connect Jars of Clay catchy rock with folky elements. The band is sometimes compared to U2, whose lead singer Bono, in turn, stated in an interview to be a big fan of Jars of Clay. In the lyrics of the faith of the band members play a central role in Jesus Christ. Characteristic here is a lyrically sophisticated and pictorial textual conversion.

In America, the band is also known far beyond the Christian scene addition, several titles such as " Flood" or "Crazy Times " were also successful on secular radio stations. In Germany CDs by Jars of Clay are available almost exclusively in Christian book or dispatch actions.

The band name " Jars of Clay" is taken from a Bible passage from the New Testament, and literally means " vessels of clay ". See 2 Corinthians 4 verse 7: " But we have this treasure in earthen vessels (English: " Jars of Clay " ), that the transcendent power belongs to God and not from us. " ( Translation by Luther )

Jars of Clay consists of:

  • Dan Haseltine - vocals, percussion;
  • Charlie Lowell - piano, organ, accordion, keyboards, backing vocals;
  • Stephen Mason - guitar, vocals, percussion, mandolin, backing vocals;
  • Matthew Odmark - Acoustic guitar, banjo, background vocals.

The band has no permanent drummer or bassist, live concerts often take Joe Porter and Aaron Sands this instrumentation.
