The Enduring Echeveria ( Jasione laevis, Syn. Jasione perennis Vill ), also known as Enduring sand Rapunzel, a campanula plant of the genus sand rapunzel is ( Jasione ).

Description

The perennial Echeveria is a perennial, herbaceous Chamaephyt, which reaches heights of growth between 25 and 60 centimeters. It forms foothills ( stolons ) and numerous sterile leaf rosettes. Its stems are little way branching. The leaves are flat, entire or slightly toothed. The blue- purple, globular flower heads are 25 to 30 millimeters in diameter. The calyx teeth are bare.

Distribution and location

The Enduring Echeveria is atlantic spread to sub-Mediterranean. It grows in Europe in Kontinentalitätsgefälle preferably near the coast.

It mainly located in dwarf shrub heath and Nardus grasslands ( Violion caninae Schwick. 1944) on nitrogen-poor, low base, moderately acidic to acidic, calcium-poor soils. As a pioneer plant it particularly gappy populated places on slopes or along roadsides.

Use

In the German trade the variety Jasione is mostly offered laevis (blue light) under the name " blue bowl" for use in rock gardens.
