Mountain Echeveria ( Jasione montana)

The sand rapunzel or Echeveria ( Jasione ) are a genus in the family of the bellflower family ( Campanulaceae ).

Description

There are two or perennial herbaceous plants. The leaves are alternate and arranged undivided.

The spherical inflorescences reveal a " bell-like growth " only when looking at the terminal florets. The flowers are fünfzählig. Between the sepal lobes there are no appendages. The petals are are fused at the base.

The basic number of chromosomes is 2n = 12, however, there are tetra-and hexaploid species. Rare ( J. montana var litoralis ) is 2n = 14 before.

Occurrence

The genus is widespread in Central Europe and the Mediterranean to low lime, sunny and dry locations.

The genus contains 15 species. In Europe, the following species occur:

  • Jasione Bulgarica Stoj. & Stef. , Occurs only in Bulgaria
  • Jasione corymbosa Poir. ex Schult.
  • Jasione crispa ( Pourr. ) Samp. , With several subspecies
  • Jasione heldreichii Boiss. & Orph. , Occurs only on the Balkan Peninsula
  • Jasione foliosa Cav. with 2 subspecies occurs only in Spain
  • Enduring sand Rapunzel ( Jasione laevis Lam; Syn. Sieber ex Spreng also J. supina. ), With several subspecies
  • Jasione lusitanica A. DC., Is found only in Northwest Portugal
  • Mountain Echeveria ( Jasione montana L.), with several subspecies
  • Jasione penicillata Boiss., Comes only in Spain in the Sierra Tejeda ago
