Jaska Raatikainen

Jaska Raatikainen ( born July 18, 1979 in Espoo ) is a Finnish musician, who has become known as the drummer for the melodic death metal band Children of Bodom.

Life

Raatikainen was born on July 18, 1979 in Lappeenranta, a Finnish city. As a child he began learning to play piano and French horn. 1991 or 1992, he moved with his family to Espoo, a city neighboring Helsinki. In his new class he met Alexi Laiho. Both liked hard rock and metal music, such as Metallica and Guns N ' Roses. Together they decided to form a band and therefore to learn to play drums Raatikainen began. Initially the band played, the Inearthed was called, cover versions of their favorite artists, but in 1993 they recorded their first demo, could be heard on the original compositions. Raatikainen played a few years in a big band, where he met the trumpeter and electric guitarist Alexander Kuoppala, which was added later in the band. In the next few years Raatikainen was busy with tours and recordings with Children of Bodom, but also found time for some side projects: In 2000 he had a cameo appearance in a Finnish soap opera. In May 2001, he helped the band Virtuocity that still needed a drummer during the recording of their debut album. In July 2001 and in November and December 2002, he played in the dark metal band Evemaster the drums on their album Wither one. In 2004 he was again asked by Evemaster for help and he played on their album Lacrimae Mundi. In 2003 founded Kristian Ranta ( Norther ), he and a female vocalist the band Gashouse Garden. They recorded a demo recording and sought a record deal. But after this was unsuccessful and the members had too much to do with her ​​own bands, the project was discontinued. He also helped out on a tour of Sinergy for the injured drummer, and played in a Norther concert drums.
