Jason BeDuhn

Jason David Beduhn is a religious and cultural historian and currently a professor of religious studies at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

Beduhn has a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Illinois, Urbana, a Masters in Theology and New Testament and early Christian history at Harvard Divinity School. He received his PhD in comparative religious studies at Indiana University, Bloomington.

He won the Best First Book Award from the American Academy of Religion in 2001 for his book The Manichaean Body in Discipline and Ritual (ISBN 0-8018-6270-1 ), in which he religions as goal-oriented systems of practice within particular models of reality analyzed. His second book, Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament provoked erherblichen contradiction because it highlighted cases of sectarian bias in the process of Bible translation. Beduhn argued this would Contemporary Christian views anachronistically inserted into the translations of the Scriptures, on which rely the most English-speaking Christians.

In 2004 he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.
