Javier Acuña

Carlos Javier Acuña Caballero ( born June 23, 1988 in Asunción ) is a Paraguayan football player.

Career

His position is that of a striker and his number the 16 He began his career with Olimpia Asunción and came in 2005 to the Spanish second division side FC Cadiz, for which he, however, scored just two goals in 22 league matches and therefore the 2007/08 season to the league rivals UD Salamanca was borrowed. During the 2008/ 09 season he moved to Real Madrid's second team Real Madrid Castilla. In the summer of 2010, he was loaned out for a year at Recreativo Huelva. After a season with the Andalusians, he moved on loan to FC Girona. After the end of the loan, he moved free transfer for the season 2012/13 the Italian first division club Udinese Calcio, but was released shortly afterwards to the English second division Watford FC. There, he signed a contract valid until 2016.

Acuña participated with Paraguay's national youth teams at various South American and World Championships and is considered a great talent. His move to Spain occupied the bodies of the football world governing body, because underage players under the rules of such exchange is prohibited.
