Javier Busto

Javier Busto Sagrado ( born November 13, 1949 in Hondarribia, Basque Country, Spain ) is a Spanish composer and choirmaster.

Life and work

Busto studied medicine at the University of Valladolid. He taught himself in music from before he was trained by Erwin List in choral conducting. In 1995 he founded Kanta Cantemus Korua, a chorus of young women in their teens. In 1978 he founded the Eskifaia Korua in Hondarribia.

Busto presented his compositions at the Fourth World Symposium on Choral Music in Sydney in 1996 and was guest conductor of the Tokyo Cantat Festival 2000. His choirs have won first prizes in choral competitions in France, Italy, Austria and Germany. Busto was also repeatedly jury member composition and choral competitions in Spain, France, Italy and Japan.
