Jay Webber Seaver

Jay Webber Seaver ( born March 9, 1855 in Craftsbury / Orleans County, † May 5, 1915 in Berkeley ) was an American physician and pioneer of anthropometry.

Biography

Jay Webber Seaver was born as the second of five children of Mr and Mrs William Seaver and Betsy Urie. He studied at the Medical School of Yale University, where he later taught as a professor. He led his body measurements to thousands of students from the area around Chautauqua and published his research results in Anthropometry and physical examination. A book for practical use in connection with gymnastic work and physical education ..

Seaver married on July 1, 1886 Leona Nancy Sheldon Sullivan. His body was interred in the cemetery at Chautauqua on the main road to Jamestown.
