Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin

Jean Anthelme Brillat -Savarin ( born April 1, 1755 in Belley, Ain department, † February 2nd 1826 in Paris) was a French writer and one of the most important French Gastrosophen.

Life

He was a professional judge. In 1789 he was elected for the third estate in the Estates-General met in 1789. During the Reign of Terror he emigrated and lived in 1794 in Moudon and Lausanne in Switzerland, as well as in London, and then for two years under very privation circumstances in New York ( where he also attended Philadelphia and Hartford ( Connecticut ) in the United States). He returned to Europe in 1796. After the coup of 18 Brumaire in the autumn of 1799 he became a judge of the Supreme Court. The most famous of his works is " La Physiologie du goût " ( German: " The Physiology of Taste " ), published in 1826, translated into German in 1865, where he is said to have worked for 25 years.
