Jean-Baptiste Tuby

Jean -Baptiste Tuby originally Giambattista Tubi (* 1635 in Rome; † August 9, 1700 in Paris) was a French sculptor of Italian origin.

Tuby came to Paris in 1660, working under the direction of Charles Le Brun in the Manufacture des Gobelins. With Antoine Coysevox he worked at the tomb of Cardinal Mazarin. For Jean -Baptiste Colbert, he designed the Parc de Sceaux the Statue of winter, which is at the Jardin du Luxembourg today.

Tuby was a favorite of Louis XIV sculptor and was allowed to work a lot in Versailles. In 1672 he received French citizenship.
