Jean-Claude Colin

Jean -Claude Colin ( born August 7, 1790 in St- Bonnet- le- Troncy, France, † November 15, 1875 in La Neylière, Pomeys, Canton of Saint- Symphorien- sur- Coise ) was a priest and founder of the Marist Fathers.

During his chaplain 1816-1825 in Cerdon he persecuted the resulting among his fellow students in the seminar idea further, to found a Society of Mary, which was officially recognized in 1836. From 1825 to 1829 he was a missionary in the Bugey people and 1829-1839 Superior of the minor seminary in Belley. Superior General of the Marist Fathers, he was from 1836 to 1854. 1872 was the final drafting of the Rule.
