Jean de La Taille

Jean de La Taille (* 1535 in Château Bondaroy, † 1608 in Paris) was a French poet and dramatist in the Renaissance.

Life

La waist grew up in Paris, studied law at Orléans and then served in the royal army, perhaps even with the Huguenots. His natural preference of course, was the literature. 1572 and 1573 came out " Saul " and "La famine", both of which are among the best French tragedies. La Taille also published two tragedies of his brother Jacques ( 1542-62 ) and the essay " L'art de la tragédie " in which he summarized the contemporary views on the tragedy of poetry; he even called for the observance of certain rules, but also spoke out for the need to arouse the feelings of the viewer. In addition, La Taille wrote political essays.
