Jean-François Ntoutoume Emane

Jean -François Ntoutoume Emane ( born October 6, 1939) was from 1999 to 2006 Prime Minister of the Republic of Gabon.

Early years

Emane belongs to the people of the fishing and comes from the province Estuary in the northwest of the time belonging to France Gabon. He studied in Paris Political Science and received his doctorate. In Gabon, he worked in financial management.

Political career

He is since 1977 in various functions of the government of the ruling since 1967, President Omar Bongo. First, he was responsible until 1984 for civil aviation, then to 1987 for trade. In addition, he was from 1976 to 1990 also his personal advisor, especially in economic and financial matters. In September 1994, he was able to achieve as head of delegation of the government side in Paris with the opposition an agreement to form a government with the participation of all forces. In 1998 he organized Bongos election campaign, the president has been confirmed with 66.6 %, and there were accusations of manipulation by the opposition.

Prime minister

For the first time, he was appointed Prime Minister on 23 January 1999. On 26 January 2002 by President Bongo Emane was asked to form a government again. The new government also included four representatives of the opposition, among them the long-time adversary bongos, Paul Mba Abessole as Minister of Human Rights.

Emane has always been renowned as a reliable follower bongos, most recently he was confirmed in September 2004 in his office. He belongs to the ruling party Parti Démocratique Gabonais (PDG ).

On 20 January 2006 he was replaced by Jean Eye Eyeghe Ndong as Prime Minister.

Family

Emane is married to a woman from Cameroon and has seven children.
