Jean-François Pouliot

Jean -François Pouliot ( born 1957 in Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada ) is a Canadian film director.

Life and achievements

Pouliot studied art, communication and philosophy at Concordia University in Montreal. He started with short films and as a camera assistant, for example, in the dramedy Hotel New Hampshire ( 1984) by director Tony Richardson with Rob Lowe and Jodie Foster.

In about 15 years in the profession Pouliot created about five hundred commercials for television commercials and founded the software company ELODA. The screenplay by Ken Scott convinced him, and he created his first feature film - the comedy The Great Seduction (2003), which was awarded with various prizes. Among other things, won Pouliot for in 2004 the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2004 he was nominated as a director of this film the Genie Award. 2006 was followed by a nomination of this award for his direction in Guide de la petite vengeance.
