Jean Jacoby

Jean Lucien Nicolas Jacoby ( born March 26, 1891 in Luxembourg, † September 9, 1936 in Mulhouse) was a Luxembourgian Olympic champion.

Life

After his childhood in Molsheim ( Alsace ) Jean Jacoby made ​​his art studies at the École des Beaux -Arts in Strasbourg. Jacoby was an art teacher (1912-1918) and went as a church painter to Wiesbaden, later to Strasbourg, where he took over the artistic direction of a printing company. From 1926 to 1934 he worked in Strasbourg as an illustrator for newspapers at Ullstein. In 1934, he is drawn back to Mulhouse, where he in 1936 he suffered a fatal heart attack.

At the Olympic Games of 1924 and 1928, he received one gold medal of the art competitions. Jacoby is the most successful Olympic artist, he is the only one who was able to win two gold medals at the 1912 to 1948 discharged competitions.
