Jean-Jacques Lebel

Jean -Jacques Lebel ( b. 1936 in Paris) is a French artist and translator.

Life

Lebel comes from a family of artists; his father was Robert Lebel and his mother a painter Nina Lebel. 1940 To Begin the campaign in the west (World War II ), fled the Lebel in the U.S. and lived until the end of 1944 in New York.

As early as 1955 could debut successfully as an artist Lebel with an exhibition at the Galleria Numero in Florence. Some of his first exhibitions and happenings for which he is still known today, developed in collaboration with Arnaud Labelle - Rojoux.

From 1955 published Lebel also the poetry journal Unique front and the writings of friends and colleagues, such as William Burroughs, Gregory Corso, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg and Michael McClure translate began.

1960 Lebel was instrumental in the development and implementation of L' enterrement de la chose, the first Happening Europe; it took place in Venice. Texts by Joris -Karl Huysmans and the Marquis de Sade were with installation works connected by Jean Tinguely.

2001 called the Musée des beaux -arts de Montréal Lebel curator for the exhibition Picasso Erotique. With huge success of this exhibition was to see nationale du Jeu de Paume (Paris) then also the Museu Picasso ( Barcelona) and in the gallery.

2009 was to see the life's work under the Lebel Jean-Jacques Lebel Tiel, Soulvements at La Maison Rouge, a contemporary art museum in the Marais (Paris).
