Jean-Marie Duhamel

Jean -Marie Constant Duhamel ( born February 5, 1797 in Saint- Malo, † April 29, 1872 in Paris) was a French mathematician and physicist.

Duhamel attended the Polytechnic School in Paris, where he was working as a teacher since 1834. In 1851 he became professor of mathematics at the University of Paris.

Duhamel did research in the field of partial differential equations. The Duhamel principle goes back to him. He published, in particular work on thermodynamics and analytical mechanics.
