Jean Piaubert

Jean Piaubert ( born January 27, 1900 in Bordeaux, France, † January 28, 2002 in Paris ) was a French painter and printmaker. He is one of the most important representatives of Abstract Art after the Second World War.

Life

Jean Piaubert visited in 1918 the École des Beaux -Arts in Bordeaux. After completing his military service, he moved to Paris in 1922 and continued his studies at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere continued.

On his arrival in Paris Piaubert was a landscape painter who also borrowed his style means constructivism. In the years 1933-1943, his style is somewhat ambiguous, since 1945 he only begins to paint abstract.

Jean Piaubert had his first solo exhibition in 1932 at Galerie Zack, Paris. In the 1950s, his art brings international attention. He is shown at numerous international exhibitions, including documenta 2 in Kassel in 1959. Among his works includes paintings, drawings and graphics are also tapestries.

Jean Piaubert died at 102 years and one day on 28 January 2002 in Paris.
