Jean-Pierre Leguay

Jean -Pierre Leguay ( born July 4, 1939 in Dijon ) is a French composer and organist.

Life

Leguay studied with André Marchal, Gaston Litaize, then at the Conservatoire de Paris with Simone Plé - Caussade, Rolande Falcinelli (organ) and Olivier Messiaen (composition). From 1961 to 1984 he was organist at the church of Notre -Dame-des -Champs in Paris. From 1968 to 1989 he taught organ and organ improvisation and music history at the Conservatory of Limoges.

In 1985 he was, together with Yves Devernay, Olivier and Philippe Lefebvre Latry titular organist of the Cathedral of Notre- Dame de Paris, in the succession of Pierre Cochereau.

In 1989 he was appointed professor for organ and improvisation at the Regional Conservatory (CRR ) Dijon, where he worked until 2003. He won prizes among others, improvisation competitions in Lyon and Haarlem.
