Jeannine Altmeyer

Jeannine Altmeyer ( born 2 May 1948 in La Habra in Los Angeles ) is an American singer in the vocal range soprano.

Life and artistic work

Theresa Jeannine Altmeyers family was German - Italian descent. She was a student of Betty Olssen, Martial Singher, Lotte Lehmann and George London. In 1970 she won the first prize in a singing contest at the Metropolitan Opera, which was connected with a beginner - involvement. In 1973, she hired Herbert von Karajan as Freia in Das Rheingold for the Salzburg Opera Festival. This game had the soprano previously successfully sung on the operatic stage of Chicago. In the same year she became a member of the Zurich Opera House. From 1975 to 1979 Jeannine Altmeyer was a member of the Stuttgart Opera. There, she excelled with great success in the operas of Richard Strauss, including as Salome and CHRYSOTHEMIS. The singer also made ​​guest appearances at the theaters of Amsterdam, Frankfurt / Main, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Cologne, Paris, Los Angeles, at La Scala and again at the Metropolitan Opera. Jeannine Altmeyer was a celebrated singer of the Bayreuth Festival. She sang in 1976 under Pierre Boulez Sieglinde in Die Walküre at the side of Peter Hofmann as Siegmund. She also sang in Bayreuth Isolde and Gutrune.
