The software has a modular structure and uses for a Microsoft Excel as the user interface, the other a Jedox own spreadsheet ( spreadsheet ), which can be used in popular browsers. Jedox is developed by the same software company Jedox from Freiburg im Breisgau.

Areas of application and dissemination

Jedox was developed especially in the area of planning, analysis and reporting and data consolidation for tasks and can be used sectors and across disciplines. Basic principle of the software is that Jedox extracted the necessary operating data from legacy systems, this brings in executable form of analysis and different user groups in need-based evaluations or access through a range of user-friendly front-ends provides.

The peculiarity of the software consists in the fact that not only past-oriented business intelligence applications, such as OLAP analysis and reporting, are covered, but also performance management solutions, such as what-if analysis, demand planning, simulations, budgeting, financial planning and balanced scorecards can be created.

In addition to query multidimensional data can also be written back ( write back) and are consolidated in real time. The server keeps all data in memory to allow fast access to data. About APIs in Java, PHP, C / C or. NET Jedox OLAP database can be integrated into other software environments.

Excel Add- in

A Microsoft Excel add- in component manages communication between the Jedox OLAP database and the Excel front-end. Any number of Excel jobs online can be linked together, all on a central database access ( Single Point of Truth ). The data written in Microsoft Excel data is written back on the add-in in the OLAP cube structure and aggregated. By using the known Excel interface, business users can without IT skills to work independently with Jedox and implement plans, analyzes and reports.

Web client

About the Jedox Web client users can access from a Web browser on the centrally stored data from the OLAP database. Local reports created are transformed into server-based web applications and called in the web browser and adjusted. In Web mode analysis results and modifications to existing reports can be consistently written back to the database. Analysis and calculation models with Excel will be provided via the Web browser several users available without requiring an installation of Microsoft Excel. Users access to the web browser, therefore, a mobile terminal to the OLAP database.

GPU module

The optional GPU module Jedox uses computing power and memory of Nvidia Tesla GPUs for the analysis of corporate data. Complex OLAP calculations are the GPU additional component, compared with an Intel multi-core architecture to accelerate a multiple of, the acceleration factor depends on the particular data model. Developed in collaboration with the University of Freiburg and the University of Western Australia Perth GPU module is mainly used in multi-dimensional data analysis use. The GPU component is switched on the server side. You needed to on the graphics card, no additional hardware installation.

Extraction Tool

Jedox ETL is a client- server - based application for automated data import, which extracts data from heterogeneous sources, transformed and in the Jedox OLAP server uploads. The ETL component works with all major relational database systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL, and linked them via JDBC interface. In addition, users can extract more data from flat files, XML files, Web services, and LDAP systems. Through a SOAP-based web service interface to Jedox ETL can be integrated into other software applications. In addition to the data import into Jedox the ETL module also supports the " drill-through " from the OLAP database to the document data in the source systems.
