Jeff Berlin

Jeff Berlin ( born January 17, 1953 in Queens (New York)) is an American electric bass player who is active in both the fusion region as well as in modern jazz.

He became known end of the 1970s as musicians by Bill Bruford and due to his brilliant Pizzicatotechnik. Subjected as a child of classical violin training, he moved as a teenager to electric bass and stayed there. Then he studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Berlin played with Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe, Patrick Moraz, Lew Soloff, Kazumi Watanabe and Allan Holdsworth. Then followed a move to Los Angeles and the attempt to establish themselves in the local club scene. In another teaching took place at MIT / BIT and worldwide tour activities with all sorts Topjazzern. In the 1990s he moved instead to Florida; because of his son's battle with cancer, he curtailed his tour activities. His current main field of activity is the operation of the Player 's School.

Berlin has increasingly developed in recent years, Modern Jazz / Bop. His playing style is characterized by a strong harmony -oriented mindset and long, blaster -like melody.

He was and is an endorser for brands such as Yamaha, Peavey, Dean and Mark Bass.
