Jeff Hartwig

Jeff Hartwig ( born September 25, 1967 in St. Louis, Missouri ) is a former American track and field athlete.

The pole vaulter Jeff Hartwig can look back on an amazingly long career. From 1988 to 2007 he was every year skip the 5 -meter mark. In 1998, he was the first American who surpassed the 6 -meter mark. His best performance is at 6.03 meters since 2000.

He could celebrate with the silver medal at the World Indoor Championships in 1999, his greatest international success. At the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996, he finished 11th place. In 2000, he failed as a global annual Best in the U.S. Trials for the Olympics with a somersault Nullo. In 2008 Hartwig ended his long career as a pole vaulter. For the Olympic Games in Beijing, he was able to qualify again, did not reach 5.55 meters but the final. His last race he completed on 24 September 2008 at Domspringen in Aachen.

At a height of 1.90 m his competition weight was 82 kg.
