Jeffrey John

Jeffrey Philip Hywel John ( born February 10, 1953 in Tonyrefail ) is an Anglican cleric and Christian theologian and the current Dean of the Abbey of St Albans.

John was born in Tonyrefail in south Wales on 10 February 1953. After his education, John studied at Hertford College, Oxford Classics and Modern Languages ​​. He then studied theology at St Stephen's House, Oxford. After a Curracy in Penarth, Llandaf, John returned to Oxford and earned a doctorate in theology. John joined the Society of Catholic Priests. John was appointed Dean Chaplain at Magdalen College, Oxford, Brasenose College, Oxford, in 1984. He was vicar at Holy Trinity Church in Eltham since 1991 and in 1997 canon chancellor at Southwark Cathedral in London.

Dr. John is a founding member of the organization, Affirming Catholicism, a group that defends Catholicism within the Anglican Church and a campaign to support the ordination of women.

On 20 May 2003 he was appointed Bishop of Reading, a suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Oxford was known. The nomination of John led to a controversy in the Church of England and the Anglican Communion. For many years, John hired as LGBT activist.

On July 6, 2003 John withdrew his nomination to the episcopate back. On April 19, 2004 John was appointed Dean of the Abbey of St Albans. The launch took place on July 2, 2004.

In August 2006, John married his partner Grant Holmes.
