Jens Fiedler (canoeist)

Jens Fiedler ( * July 16, 1965 in ironworks city ) is a former German canoeist who competed for East Germany.

Fiedler's athletic career began at the 1983 European Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, where he won the gold medal in the K-4 among others. Due to the boycott of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles he took the part of socialist countries for the GDR successful in the competitions of Friendship in Moscow, for which he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold. In the Canoe World Championships 1986 in Montreal, he won the four-man kayak gold over 500m and silver over 1000 m. For these achievements, he was honored with the Star of People's Friendship in silver. He started for the forward ASK Potsdam.

Fiedler is the father of two children and currently resides in Potsdam- Golm.
