Jeremy Gaige

Jeremy Gaige ( born October 9, 1927 in New York City; † 19 February 2011) was an American chess journalist and historian.

Life

Gaige was the son of theater producers Crosby Gaige. After training in schools and college, he served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. In 1951, he joined the College from Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts.

1952 Gaige began a career in journalism, first as a copy boy at the New York Times. After 1958, the game of chess learned to Gaige was particularly interested in chess biographies, for which he found no systematic or quotable material. During his tenure, he corrected many biographical and historical data chess own research. His work culminated in 1987 in the publication of Chess Personnel with over 14,000 entries.

Family

1951 married Gaige Elise Cookson, of which he was divorced again in 1956. In 1958 he married Harriet Elizabeth Oken. From this ongoing marriage a daughter emerged.
