Jerome Charyn

Jerome Charyn ( born 1937 in New York City ) is an American writer. In 1957 he completed a course of study at Columbia University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Comparative Literature. Today ( 2009) he teaches film studies at the American University of Paris.

Charyn has published 37 stories, mostly crime novels. A recurring figure is the fictional policeman Isaac Sidel.

Two autobiographical works about his childhood and youth in the Bronx were honored by the New York Times Book of the Year. For his novel Darlin ' Bill, he received the Rosenthal Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Crime of 2008 ( 6th place), he was in the crime world leaderboard with Citizen Sidel.
