Jerusalem Law

The Jerusalem Law ( Hebrew official name: חוק יסוד: ירושלים בירת ישראל Chok Yesod: Yerushalayim Birat Jisra'el Basic Law: Jerusalem, Capital of Israel ) is an Israeli law. It was passed by the Knesset, the Israeli parliament on 30 July 1980 and referred to the full and united Jerusalem as Israel's capital. In effect, this meant the annexation of East Jerusalem.

On August 20, 1980, in Resolution 478 of the UN Security Council, the Jerusalem Law null and void ( "null and void " ) explains. Then all remaining embassies in Jerusalem were moved to Tel Aviv.

The original version is published in Sefer haChukkim ( Code) No. 980 of 23 Aw 5740 (5 August 1980), p 186.
