Jesper Jensen (handballer)

Jesper Jensen (born 30 October 1977 in Aarhus, Denmark ) is a former Danish handball player. Jensen, who aground for the Danish national team, was mostly used on the rear center of the room. Since end of his career he has worked as a handball coach.

Jesper Jensen began with the handball game at HEI Skæring in a suburb of Aarhus. Later he moved to Team Esbjerg, where he debuted in the Danish first division. In 1999 he moved on to former champion Skjern Håndbold. With the Jutlanders he won the 2001 Danish Super Cup and in 2002 and 2003 the EHF Challenge Cup. After the 2012/13 season Jensen finished his career. Since then, he coached the women's team of Vejen EH. On 1 July 2014 he took over as coach of the men's team of Aalborg Håndbold.

Jesper Jensen played 120 internationals for Denmark. At the 2008 European Championships in Norway, he was European champion; at the European Championships 2006, he won the bronze medal as well as at the World Cup 2007 in Germany. He also participated with the Danish selection of the 2008 Olympic Games.

His sister Trine Nielsen also played professional handball.
