Jestofunk

Jestofunk are three Italian DJs who engage various guest musicians for their studio sessions and live performances. The musical concept corresponds to the occupation: House / dance grooves combined with soul and funk. Jestofunk is considered a representative of the genre Acid Jazz.

Biography

At the beginning of the 90s, the three already known in the Italian House scene DJs Glaudio ' MozArt ' Rispoli, Francesco Farias and Blade met in their hometown of Ravenna. Their concept was to combine the origins of the House with the current at that time music. First released in 1992 the single "I'm Gonna Love You", which was successful not only in Italian clubs, but also in England. In the following years the Italians published with " Say It Again " and " Can We Live" two more singles, which are also found to be very well received.

Encouraged by the success of these three singles, the first album, which was released in 1994. Just as the three singles before was "Love In A Black Dimension" a complete success. Published in 1997 Jestofunk Album " Remixes " and the beginning of 1998 followed then for the first time with its own song material, the second CD entitled "Universal Mother". Special guest stars are featured on this album Cece Rogers, Fred Wesley and Jocelyn Brown.

At the beginning of the new millennium, Cece Rogers adopted by the band and Wendy Lewis, who was initially intended for only a few guest appearances, worked for a long time with Jestofunk. For the 2003 and so far last released album " Seventy Miles From Philadelphia " could be won Jerry Dugger and with Hubert Tubbs, a former Tower of Power singer.

Style

The style of Jestofunk was clearly defined with the two albums " Remixes " and " Universal Mother". He moves between very strongly oriented to the house beats and almost traditional radio. Firstly, a continuous bass drum, on the other hand to hear a the whole piece not changing driving bassline. The proportion of electronically controlled elements is very large and in addition are usually also instruments of guest musicians in the form of solos, percussion or their singing to listen.

Furthermore, also mixes are produced in which solos are broken down and re- used. When the radio plays the shares by guest musicians are very large, is here too often electronically specially reworked. The grooves are often slower, contain more syncopation and so it is also suitable, for example, the funk legend Fred Wesley to requests to the trombone.

Occasionally other musical influences are still visible. So even trip - hop grooves with esoteric jazz-rock chords, occasionally combined or added offbeat reggae guitars. That Jestofunk and their guest musicians also understand their music on stage to present, they emphasize not only with extensive touring, but also with the release of her album " Live."
