Jesus Fuertes

Jesus Fuertes Gomez ( born April 14, 1938 in Madrid, † June 18, 2006 in Miami, Florida) was a Spanish painter.

Fuertes met in early years the artists Salvador Dalí, André Breton and the writer Federico García Lorca, and later in France Pablo Picasso. At the age of 15 he had his first public exhibition in Berlin. With Picasso whom he had a close friendship, he later followed him to Paris.

The Cubist works by Fuertes are exhibited worldwide and are characterized by their bright blue color. The focus of his motifs are mainly women and cats.

He died in Miami of a heart attack.
