Jesús Iglesias

Jesús Ricardo Iglesias ( born February 22, 1922 in Pergamino, † 11 July, 2005 Pergamino ) was an Argentine racing driver.

The Argentine went in the 1950s with his Chevrolet special road race in his home country. He celebrated doing some successes and developed a reputation as one of the best touring car drivers in South America. This reputation earned him a Gordini Trailer for the home Grand Prix in 1955 in Buenos Aires. After 38 laps, the race was for a clutch failure to end.

After his trip to the Formula 1 Iglesias went from 1956 back touring car races. He was second in the 500 - mile race from Rafaelo in the same year. Two years later he had the Formula Libre race in Buenos Aires in the first round a collision with Stirling Moss and made it so that the world on the front pages of daily newspapers. Iglesias braked too late just after the start of the wet road and crashed into the rear of Moss. Here, a few meters of the Argentine Cooper rose into the air, pulled the car off with Moss and both vehicles flew over the barrier in a group of photographers. No one was seriously injured in the accident as if by a miracle.
