Jim Crockett Promotions

Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, MACW short, is the name of a former U.S. wrestling promotion that was based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Promoter was Jim Crockett.

History

The history of the promotion began in 1931, when the promoter Jim Crockett Sr. held wrestling tournaments under different names.

Only in the 1950s began to hold the tournaments under the banner of Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP ), and this occurred in the aftermath of the fledgling National Wrestling Alliance.

1973 PhD in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and was reorganized in 1983 for national promotion. MACW had acquired at this time Georgia Championship Wrestling and held from there the nationally designed TV format World Championship Wrestling.

In 1984 Crockett began his PhD at the national level to reorganize by buying up some NWA affiliates. So he acquired the promotions Championship Wrestling From Georgia (1985) Heart Of America ( 1986), Championship Wrestling From Florida ( 1987 ), St. Louis Wrestling Club (1987 ) and Universal Wrestling Federation (1987).

With the sale of the promotion to Ted Turner, it was converted in the banner NWA World Championship Wrestling in November 1988.
