Jim Cullum, Jr.

Jim Cullum Jr. ( born September 20, 1941 in San Antonio) is an American cornetist and bandleader of the Oldtime Jazz.

Cullum played as a student at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where his father, clarinetist Jim Cullum Sr., who among other things, in the 1940s played with Jack Teagarden in 1962 founded Septet "Happy Jazz Band. From 1963, they played in the run by Cullum Jazz club "The Landing" on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. After his father's death in 1973 they called themselves " Jim Cullum Jazz Band" ( JCJB ) and played from 1981 at the Hyatt Regency. They have released over 40 records and play since 1989 a week on the radio in a separate shipment ( " Riverwalk Live from The Landing " on KSTX ), which is broadcast nationwide.

To JCJB are currently (2007) Ron Hockett (clarinet, saxophone), Kenny Rupp (trombone), Jim Turner (piano), Howard Elkins (guitar, banjo), Don Mopsick ( bass), Mike Waskiewicz (drums). In 1987 she played in tribute to Turk Murphy at Carnegie Hall. 1993 to 2005 they were regularly at the Stanford Summer Jazz Workshop. Since 1980 she has also frequently play at Jazz fairs in the church.
