Jim Flaherty

James "Jim" Michael Flaherty ( born December 30, 1949 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a Canadian politician of the Conservative Party of Canada and Minister of Finance since 2006.

Life

Flaherty studied post-school first at Princeton University and acquired there a Bachelor of Arts ( BA). A subsequent post-graduate studies in law at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto, he graduated with a Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B. ). He then became a partner in the law firm Flaherty Dow Elliott and worked for several years as a lawyer.

His political career began Flaherty first in the province of Ontario and was founded in 1995 as the candidate of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, in the ten years he until 2005 the constituency Whitby - Ajax represented. Jim Flaherty is married to Christine Elliott Flaherty, who is a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
