Jim Gary

James "Jim" Gary ( born March 17, 1939 in Sebastian, Florida; † January 14, 2006 in Freehold, New Jersey ) was an American sculptor, architectural for his large, colorful creations of dinosaurs auto parts, as well as for its was known and scenic monumental work.

Life and career

He grew up in Colts Neck ( NJ ), he left his family after elementary school and slapped - temporarily homeless - with a variety of jobs through. After military service in the U.S. Navy, he began to build first sculptures with architectural elements, which he had to exhibit in New York.

The sculptor Jacques Lipchitz showed him a method for the production of a sculpture of a woman. The sculpture was exhibited and sold his own gallery " Iron Butterfly ". He taught students in his gallery and sold the same works of art. Other artists such as Gerald Lubeck, Jonathan Talbot and Virginia Laudano also taught students in the gallery of Jim Gary. Finally, he closed the gallery and only worked from his studio. He developed a traveling exhibition consisting of many of his large sculptures that Jim Gary's Twentieth Century Dinosaurs. His publicist and Director Studio Kafi Benz maintains its official website. Many sculptures have won prestigious awards.

Jim Gary died on 14 January 2006 following a cerebral hemorrhage.
