Jim McCarty (guitarist)

Jim McCarty ( b. 1947 ) is an American blues - rock guitarist.

McCarty has since the 1960s integral part of the rock scene in Detroit and is considered one of the classic heavy rock guitarists that influence the scene to this day.

He played with Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels and Buddy Miles and became popular in the early 1970s with Cactus. Other bands were later the Detroit rock band The Rockets, the Detroit Blues Band, and the band Mystery Train.

His song 69 Freedom Special received a Grammy in the cover version by Les Paul in 2006.
