Jim Morahan

Michael James ' Jim' Morahan ( born December 26, 1902 in London, United Kingdom; † summer of 1976 in Sudbury ) was a British art director.

Life

Michael James Morahan, the older brother of film architect Tom Morahan, had received his professional education at the City & Guilds of London School of Arts and in 1933 joined the film. His first employer was the production company London Films. By 1945, Morahan was limited to the work of an architect assistant.

From the end of World War II Morahan was involved in numerous top productions of the Ealing Studios, including the historical melodrama king love Expeditions biography of Scott's last voyage as well as the comedy classic The Whiskey ship, The man in the white suit, Oller Kahn with delusions of grandeur and Ladykillers. In particular, the directors Basil Dearden and Alexander Mackendrick attacked again and again to the designs Morahans. For his design to king love Morahan 1950 niminiert for an Oscar.

From the mid- 50s, with his move to EMI, flattened his oeuvre. At Jim Morahans best late works include the burlesque comedy flyer Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines and the atmospherically dense ghost story The Witch Hunter, his last work. James Morahan died in the third quarter of 1976.
